Getting Started with Trezor Suite - Secure Your Crypto
A concise, practical walkthrough to install, set up, and confidently use Trezor Suite to manage your cryptocurrency securely.
Why use Trezor Suite?
Trezor Suite is the desktop and web application designed to pair with Trezor hardware wallets. It centralizes wallet management, transaction signing, firmware updates, and security settings in one interface while keeping your private keys offline inside your device.
Core benefits
- Cold-storage private keys never touch your computer.
- Open-source software with regular security reviews.
- Seamless support for many cryptocurrencies and tokens.
Official resources
Always download software and firmware from official sources. See the list of official links at the bottom for safe navigation.
Prepare: what you need before setup
Hardware
- A Trezor Model T or Trezor One device (new or factory reset).
- USB cable and a trusted computer.
Software
- Trezor Suite (desktop app) or Suite Web — download from official sources.
- Paper and pen to write down your recovery seed; avoid digital copies.
Security tip
Never share your 12/24-word recovery seed. Trezor staff or support will never ask for it.
Step-by-step setup
1. Install Trezor Suite
Download the desktop installer or open Suite Web from an official Trezor site. Run the installer and follow on-screen prompts to launch the app.
2. Connect your device
Connect your Trezor to your computer via USB. Choose Create new wallet in Suite when prompted or Recover wallet if restoring from an existing seed.
3. Set a device PIN
Choose a PIN that you can remember but is not guessable. This PIN protects access to the device if it is connected to a hostile computer.
4. Generate & record your recovery seed
Write down the recovery seed on the provided card (or on paper). Keep it in a secure, offline location (bank safe deposit box, home safe). This seed is the ultimate backup for your funds.
Using Trezor Suite daily
Receive & send
Create receiving addresses within Suite, verify addresses on the device screen before sharing, and always confirm transaction details on the physical device when sending.
Accounts & tokens
Add supported accounts inside Suite to manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other assets. Use built-in token trackers to see balances and activity at a glance.
Advanced features
- Connect to third-party apps (DeFi, NFT marketplaces) through Suite-approved integrations.
- Use passphrase protection for an additional, optional layer of privacy and account separation.
Maintenance & best practices
Keep firmware up to date
Firmware updates close security holes and add features. Perform updates inside Suite and verify firmware signatures in-app.
Backups
Store at least one copy of your recovery seed offline. Consider geographically separated backups for disaster resilience.
When to contact support
If you encounter unexpected prompts, lost seed, or suspected device tampering, follow official support guidance only — never share your seed.
